News: This summer the Los Angeles County Store will host a solo show featuring selections from my "L.A. 35 ..." series - photographs of Los Angeles I shot on 35mm film. The opening reception will be on June 24, 2017 at the store (4333 Sunset Blvd.), and the exhibit will run for approximately six weeks.
I have a photo appearing in the upcoming "User to User" group show at Gallery 825, located at 825 La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles. The opening reception is Saturday March 18th from 6-9pm and the exhibit runs through April 21st 2017. The show was juried by Bennet Roberts of the Roberts & Tilton gallery in Los Angeles. I had a photo appear in the Los Angeles Art Association's Group Show at Gallery 825 from December 2016 to January 2017. The show was juried by Jennifer Inacio of the Perez Art museum in Miami, and served as "L.A.A.A.'s signature survey exhibition featuring the very best in emerging art."
"Klipfel's photographs are all about pop colour, rich, deep and full of fizz, the hues dancing on our retina, taking charge of the picture frame, turning the object of the photograph into a kaleidoscope of wondrous harmonious colour that comes straight out of a comic book.
These pictures may be of the banal and the ordinary but Klipfel turns each store, window, street into a cacophony of pop culture, the light exploding across his pictures, accentuating the primary reds, blues and yellows and giving us an America of vintage graphic design. Everywhere we look there are tag lines proclaiming and declaring everything from guns to ice packs, ATM’s to smog checks and window signage to garage doors. They are both fantastical and ubiquitous and it’s this fine line between the ordinary and the hyper-real that Klipfel walks, his camera delighting in everything around him, giving space for the everyday to shine."
